Drop off & Pick Up Procedures Reminder

We are well into the school year and would like to remind parents and family members of the Aikahi Student Handbook Drop Off and Pick Up Policies and Procedures.  Beginning Monday, November 15^th the following procedures will be enforced:

• No parking in the school parking lot between 7:30 am and  8:00 am.  This policy is three-fold:  as many children are being dropped off between cars some of them are walking behind cars (even as cars have their back up lights on!).  This presents a danger to all involved.  Secondly, our teachers and staff are finding they do not have a place to park due to parents temporarily taking up all the spots before school.  Thirdly, as parents back out of the parking spot it creates a traffic jam for the other cars exiting. 

• Drivers need to pull as far forward to the last cafeteria entrance as possible.  This allows for several cars to unload simultaneously behind you.

• The entrance to the school has two lanes.  The inner lane entrance will be coned off in the morning due to an increase in line cutting.  Those people cutting the line create a traffic jam and safety hazard.

• The school parking lot is a drop off/pick up zone only.  Please have your child ready for drop off and remind them to come right out to pick up after school.  For those parents whose child is not out after school, we are asking you to either: go around again, pull to the far cafeteria entrance and wait or if your child consistently comes out late, show up later.  The parking lot is empty around 2:20 these days.

• Please remember, children must exit the right hand side of vehicle only.
